Bringing drug interaction into the genomic age

The new version of PGXperts, that HMG Systems Engineering will be presenting in the ESC, not only offers an InteraktionsCheck for drugs, active substances, food stuffs, beverages and tabaco but also includes pharmacogenetic information. That way, it enables doctors a more precise therapy by giving references to the necessity of pharmacogenetic tests before the start of therapy. With these tests doctors find out about how a person’s genes respond to drugs in order to personalise prescriptions. Furthermore, by the help of the InteraktionsCheck, cases of Adverse Drug Reactions (ADR) can be reduced and a better treatment of patients can be provided.

The European Students’ Conference is one of the largest annual biomedical conferences worldwide that nowadays attracts more than 450 young researchers every year. With the aim to foster a closer relationship between medical faculties in Europe and the rest of the world, the ESC represents an interdisciplinary platform for international scientific exchange between students, clinicians, researchers and professors from different fields and cultural backgrounds.
